Today we have started to use Minecraft as a writing tool in our class. We shared simple ideas about what Minecraft actually was and how we could link it to our writing.
Our first attempt for writing was to produce a set of instructions on how to use Minecraft. Not everyone in the class knew about it – especially the teachers.
In our SATS Homework Club we again introduced Minecraft, to produce a story plan, for creating a ‘New World’ story. This will be developed over the weekend, by introducing new settings & characters into our story.
I would like you to explain how Minecraft can help you with your writing ideas and what other benefits we can share from using it more in our school.
This is the link for you to look at some of the revision areas for Maths that we will be covering over the next few weeks.
As shown in class, pick your topic area and then generate some questions to challenge your self with.
Post your comments on here and we can share your difficulties & successes together.
This is more of a challenge for you to do with your family. I would like you to show other members of your family the sort of exercises we have been doing recently – in our PE Hall Sessions. See if you can get them to join in with you and to take the ‘Bring Sally Up’ Squat Challenge.
Remember the ‘HOLD’ but for a bit of fun, don’t tell the family member doing the challenge with you. Once you have done it with them ask them to post a comment on here and explain what they thought of it. You can also show them some of the other ‘SALLY’ Challenges we have tried this term.
Good Luck and enjoy the fun of the challenges.
She sat, chin in her hand, head turned towards the window like a flower drawn towards the light. Her eyes fixed on the sky, staring, lost in her own imagination. Looking out she did not see a sky as plain as any other would, no, she saw a sky in endless shades of day, dotted with clouds of peach floating like dreams in a sea of blue.
She had noticed that this was how she saw the world, not necessarily as it were, but in the story that it could tell. When she looked out on the horizon and her eyes fell upon a hilltop she wondered about the journey she would take to get there and, as she did so, a tale began to form in her mind. The people that she encountered inspired characters in her mind – heroes and villains each with a tale to tell. At beaches she imagined great love stories, two souls coming together like the tide and the shore and they mingled with her own memories – those once upon a time sunset kisses. At forests she would grow cold from the chill her imaginative horror tales would bring. Dark creatures summoned from her nightmares found their place in these stories, but then, so did her heroes who were brave and showed great courage in the face of danger. Churches brought tales of forgiveness and peace, happy beginnings blurring with sad endings.
She saw the world as a story waiting to be told. Each day, starting blank, was a new opportunity to write her story. It was only when troubled that her pages, wet from her tears, would blur with what was yet to be written – the past, seen through the damp, encroaching on the future. So she wrote herself a new hero, created in her own likeness, who was courageous, just and strong, who could battle with her past.
She was a storyteller and her stories made her strong.
Your task is to pick your favourite sentence and develop it further.
